It won’t be a surprise that opinions about nudists are given rather easily. Especially online you will read comments like ‘filthy people’, ‘sex predators’ and ‘lunatics’ (or other even less flattering synonyms). Of course these people would be very surprised to know that in their own social network of family and friends at least two naturists/nudists can be found.
What would they say if they found out WHO exactly? What if it was their brother or mother or friend of the sport club, etc? Of course: we (the in-crowd) all know that we are all regular Jane’s and Joe’s. With ordinary jobs like teacher, banker, plasterer, secretary, doctor, etc. But the outside world doesn’t know! They just know ‘nudists’ from porn-sites or stories of ‘that woman that opened the door naked’.
For us it is hard to compete with these prejudices, but giving up is not an option! Unfortunately we are not a political movement and we are also not a religion (but it may feel like that). If only we would have representatives in parliaments worldwide or (as a religion) would be protected by law. It would make things a lot easier. Now we need federations and associations to maintain contact with lawmakers to make new or better laws for naturists.
Would you write to your own party leader to ask for (let’s say) more official nude beaches? Just a few of us do. But we do need them and they won’t come easy. And if you did: would they take you seriously? We guess not. Would they know how large our group is? Noop. Probably not. Would they care? No. Again. No. They will not likely go and actively search contact and work on our great cause.
So, as mentioned, we need federations. Or, sometimes, a small group of enthusiasts with the right knowledge and attitude to go into legal battle. If you happen to be in such a group: please get in touch with us, because we really want to know your story. But there is a big chance that you are not a lawyer, or in a group with such enthusiasts. If that is the fact, please follow up on our advice:
Join a federation
– or join a local naturist club (what we prefer) !
This will probably cost you a little money every year. But it will help to build on an environment (nationally or locally) in which you will be able to enjoy bare time in the sun at a beach or in local club. Without having to worry about legal actions taken on you. Wouldn’t that be great! And you can bring that day by just signing up as a local member!
And maybe (just maybe) one day the rude comments will be completely gone, or at least the vast majority of the commentators will stop placing irrational opinions about nudists. Because naturism is there to stay. Just as the weather, football and politics. That is money well spend! If you are not interested in a membership but in a one time donation: please click here!
